The Slate & Quartzite Trail leads through diverse forests, lovely brook valleys, meadows, and fields. The Herl Wacken, a quartzite ridge, is an impressive natural monument. The hike through the idyllic Nosser Valley between Fell and Thomm leads past the relics of now closed roofing slate mines to the entrance of the exhibition mine in Fell. Visitors can view the mine between April and October.
The trail was assessed with 50 adventure points by the German Hiking Institute.
