Leg 12: Riveris - Kasel - Trier
The Ruwer Valley now opens. The wine growing area begins near Waldrach. A wonderful view onto the vineyards unfolds on the way to picturesque Kasel. From the Climb, it's 660 ft/656 ft/200 m to the center of Kasel, with restaurants, wineries, and the Tourist Information. Finally, an ascent of 1.9 mi/3 km through a brook valley must be overcome to reach the heights above Trier. The climb is rewarded by a magnificent panorama onto the Trier surroundings. The stretch to the finish offers a richly varied mix of forest, meadows, and lovely views. Hikers are introduced to Trier without gaining the impression of a large city. From the finish at Trimmelter Hof, they can use the access via the Wine Cultural Trail down to the Amphitheater and into the center of Trier.
