Dhronecken Castle

www.ute24.com Dhronecken Castle was probably built even before 1200. A well-known legend links the castle to Hagen von Tronje, of Nibelungen fame. Siegfried's murderer is said to have been identical with Konrad II Wildgraf, who resides in Dhronecken Castle in the 13th century.

Water Mill

Protestant Church

www.ute24.com The Protestant Church is among the most significant historical monuments to architecture in the Hunsrück. First documented in 1140, the church displays many styles from the time between the 12th and 16th centuries. The organ built by the Stumm Family is from 1878.

The "Small Hunnenring"

www.ute24.com The "Small Hunnenring" is located on Röderberg Mountain. The name "Hunnenring" (giants' fortification) can be traced to the thick walls made of large natural stones; according to tradition, giants built the wall.

Berglicht


Marian Pilgrimage Church

Morbach


Historical Oil Mill

www.morbach.de The oil mill, a 250-year-old cultural monument, is located in the Morbach Valley. It is once again completely functional and operates with an old wooden mill work. In addition, bread, cake, or even pizza can be baked in an old stone oven. The building ensemble has been under protection since 1982.

Burg Baldenau

www.morbach.de Archbishop Balduin of Trier had Baldenau Castle built with a triangular floor plan between 1315 and 1324. The castle served as a bulwark on the border and likely served as a hunting seat.

Information trails and more in the Ortelsbruch recreation area

www.morbach.de The "Erholungswald Ortelsbruch" is a local recreation area with many attractive facilities. "The Way through the Moor" [Der Weg durchs Bruch] is like an information trail leading into two moors. Additional facilities are the Nixenweiher with pool for water cure for the feet, a forest jogging path, a forest children's playground, and the large tobogganing slide.

German Telephone Museum

Belginum Archaeology Park

www.belginum.de The museum on a historical site displays numerous finds from the archaeological ensemble of Belginum with the Celtic-Roman cemetery, the Roman settlement with several temple districts, and the early Roman military camp.

Hunolstein


Hunolstein Castle ruin

www.morbach.de The castle was built by Count Folmar from (Blies-)Castel around 1190. The ruin served as a stone quarry for the construction of several houses in the town. It offers an stunning vista into the deeply cut Dhron Valley and across the wide Hunsrück landscape.

Walholzkirche

www.morbach.de The Walholz Church is located in the Wiesen Valley between Hunolstein and Weiperath and was first documented in 1228. The present church, built around 1760, is the third church on this site; the wall surrounding it has been restored.
